Ephemeral Fossils, featuring the work of Laura Umaña
Curated by Ché Morales
ABOUT THE CURRENT EXHIBITION:
Umaña’s inspiration for the show comes from the moments we share around a table or a drink, the conversations and ideas that come and go, and the traces that are left behind. “We often focus on the new, the perfect presentation, the good shot,” she says. “But what about the moments we enjoyed and celebrated for that minute? The lipstick on the napkin, the brilliant idea, the good conversation. These are the ephemeral fossils that I wanted to capture and celebrate through my art.”
Umaña’s work explores the concept that artifacts have energy and that they carry the memories of the moments that they witnessed. Through her art, she creates a space where we can admire and appreciate the part of our soul that we tend to overlook.
“We are all fossils in the making,” Umaña says. “Our memories and experiences are the impressions that we carry with us. I hope that my art can inspire people to appreciate the beauty of the fleeting moments and the memories that endure.”
Laura Umaña’s art exhibition, “Ephemeral Fossils,” is set to deliver a one-of-a-kind and contemplative encounter that pays tribute to the allure of impermanence.Starting from March 31st, 2023 at 106 West 32nd Street, New York NY 10001.It is an opportunity to appreciate the fragments of ourselves that we have left behind.
