7 Lunch Spots in South Williamsburg

December 11, 2018/ by Olivia Ramirez

We love having our newest coworking space in the heart of South Williamsburg at Broadway and Driggs Ave, with some of Brooklyn’s best restaurants and locally-owned shops at our fingertips. To help our newest members navigate the neighborhood and make the most of their work day, in and out of the office, we’ve put together a list of our favorite lunch spots in South Williamsburg.

Some of these favorites are just a block from the office and others are a healthy walk to get your lunch break’s worth of exercise. Take a look!

1. Juanchi’s Burgers

7-minute walk from The Yard: South Williamsburg

We reserve trips to Juanchi’s Burgers for days that we’re super hungry and craving protein. Juanchi’s has got tons of delicious burgers and fried or grilled chicken sandwiches. My favorite sandwich is the “Pollo and Guacamole” with sweet potato fries. It’s delectable with an arguably healthy twist.

Fun fact: They have a black brioche bun made from activated charcoal, an ancient ingredient that’s become increasingly more popular for getting rid of toxins and impurities in the body.

…Well, okay then.

2. Quinoa Kitchen

8-minute walk from The Yard: South Williamsburg

Quinoa Kitchen is a great lunch pick for when you’re hungry but want to stay healthy. Pick your base (think quinoa, salad, etc.), your protein (chicken, steak, veggie patty), and your side (sweet potato fries, kale or tabouleh salad, and so on), and you’ve got a well-balanced, exciting meal before your eyes. They’ve also got you covered for protein shakes, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices.

3. Pies ‘n’ Thighs

3-minute walk from The Yard: South Williamsburg

Whether you’re looking for a leisurely lunch with coworkers or a dose of Southern, homestyle cooking, Pies ‘n’ Thighs is your best bet. Try some of their famous fried chicken, biscuits, and pie, and come away very, very happy.

Psst… the pies are a great birthday treat for colleagues!

4. Caracas

9-minute walk from The Yard: South Williamsburg

Caracas has been a Williamsburg staple for years, and with good reason. This Venezuelan restaurant offers a long list of mouth-watering arepas for meat-lovers and vegetarians alike. On weekdays, they have a great lunch special, offering an arepa of your choice with a side salad or soup. We can count on Caracas to fill our tummies and make us feel like we’ve treated ourselves to something special while getting a delicious salad in, too!

Plus, their happy hour is from 4-7pm, 7 days a week, in case you’re looking for an afterwork hang with friends or a date spot that’s sure to impress. They also have a location in the East Village.

5. Loosie’s Kitchen & Cafe

Loosie’s Kitchen & Cafe is an oasis tucked away on S. 6th Street between Bedford and Berry. They have a rotating menu of some of the best comfort food in Brooklyn. Their fried chicken sandwich, previously seasoned with turmeric slaw, recently changed to the equally tempting “spicy fried chicken smothered in cheese sauce on a biscuit”. Now, that’s a mouthful.

Loosie’s also has great coffee and is the perfect spot to take a break from the office and get some reading done.

Members of The Yard can get a special discount when they show their Yard keychain in the restaurant. Find more details in The BackYard.

6. Blank Cafe

7-minute walk from The Yard: South Williamsburg

Blank Cafe is a hidden gem in the South Williamsburg area. This charming Japanese cafe serves wonderful coffee and matcha as well as delicious Japanese fusion meals. I’m a huge fan of the chicken curry, featuring chicken on the bone and shredded chicken with potatoes and veggies in traditional Japanese curry. The meal comes with a tiny raisin brownie and a side salad. It’s picture-perfect.

7. America’s Choice Gourmet Deli

1-minute walk from The Yard: South Williamsburg

America’s Choice Gourmet Deli is our go-to spot for a quick bite we can rely on. Just across the street from The Yard, this deli has a huge selection of sandwiches and salads, and other favorites like chicken and lamb over rice, quesadillas, and more – at unbeatable prices. We love getting our lunch here and seeing their friendly staff each day. It’s a win in our book.
