Art Walk at The Yard

October 3, 2018/ by Olivia Ramirez

On Wednesday, October 3rd, we’re celebrating two exciting art openings in our first ever Art Walk! You’re invited to have a true gallery hopping experience during a memorable evening at The Yard. Start in Midtown and make your way to Flatiron, or start South and make your way North. You pick the route; just bring your friends along for the adventure!

Backwards from 10 at The Yard: Flatiron South

First up, walk to The Yard: Flatiron South to view Backwards from 10 by Jared Oppenheim, curated by Quiet Lunch. The reception will last from 5:30-8pm and will include four floors of Oppenheim’s works.

About the Artist: Jared Oppenheim

Jared Oppenheim is a contemporary abstract painter who resides in New York City. His work has progressed from sound and performance based installation, to mixed and found media, and finally to his most striking conceptual works, which are painted with oils. Born in Chelsea, New York, Oppenheim uses this narrative as a reference when exploring space, social status, and the construct of change.

Backwards from 10 is a return to the quintessence of who we are as individuals.

Headlights at The Yard: Herald Square

Next, walk to The Yard: Herald Square to celebrate Headlights by Yoon Hyup, curated by Ché Morales. The event runs from 6-8pm.

About the Artist: Yoon Hyup

Yoon Hyup is a New York- based artist, who is inspired by the landscapes of cities, skateboarding, murals from the past and music, such as jazz, funk, and hip hop. He combines these inspirations into individual lines and dots in a freehand-style and composes unique paintings. From gallery exhibitions to public art projects and collaborations with brands (Nike, HUF, Medicom, Cinelli, Rag & Bone, Universal Music and more), Yoon Hyup interacts with a broader audience. Today, his work is exhibited globally in cities like New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and San Sebastián.
