ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
IFAC Arts and The Yard Lower East Side is proud to present a dynamic duo exhibition featuring the works of renowned downtown artists Christopher Hart Chambers and Linus Coraggio.
The exhibition is a celebration of the unique and diverse talents of these two artists, who have been instrumental in shaping the downtown underground art scene since the 1980’s. Chambers (AVANT Street Art Guerrilla Collective) and Coraggio (Rivington School) have known each other for decades, and this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see their work displayed together, revealing a powerful synergy of artistic expression. The exhibition will display an array of pieces, including Chambers’ evocative paintings and Coraggio’s iconic steel assemblages.
This convergence of creative minds promises to captivate and inspire, shedding light on the profound impact their works have had on the world of art. Christopher Hart Chambers diverse body of work incorporates sculpture, painting, and mixed media. His work is characterized by the exploration of the unconscious mind and its impact on the human experience. Known for his intricate, vivid, and thought- provoking pieces, Chambers delves into the unknown and brings forth a world of surreal imagery and profound meaning.
Linus Coraggio, a pioneer of the 3D graffiti movement and a celebrated sculptor, creates urban-inspired artworks that challenge conventional norms. His signature “Ramifications” series features welded steel sculptures, drawing from his experiences growing up in New York City. Coraggio’s work is characterized by raw, industrial materials that evoke a sense of urban decay, yet also possess a unique beauty and intricacy that reflect the resilience of the city and its inhabitants.
